Summary

Support technical service activities for American Excelsior Company (AEC) including ErosionLab®, the company’s large-scale erosion, and sediment control research and development laboratory. Obtains data through the lab for use by environmental, engineering, and scientific personnel in determining sources and methods of controlling pollutants in the air, water, and soil. Confers with Application Engineers and other sources, in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of soil erosion testing technology. Writes technical papers and test reports and travels across the country, to represent the company and present findings. Evaluates data on performance of existing, new, and competitive erosion and sediment control products, for determining methods of improving these products. Works to meet division objectives and strategic plans to help financial profitability by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Technical Marketing

  • Promotes lab results through professional papers and presentations at national conferences such as IECA, StormCon, and ASCE and regional conferences to support Territory Managers.
  • Positions AEC strategically in the erosion and sediment control arena through active representation and participation in industry organizations.
  • Conduct in-person presentations and webinars.
  • Writes case studies and other technical documents.

Supports AEC technical services including, but not limited to:

  • Product approval applications
  • ErosionWorks® design software program
  • Technical marketing
  • All testing and research projects conducted at ErosionLab and the quality and organization of all resultant data
  • Technical support to the Earth Science and Wood Fibers Divisions
  • Operation of testing facility
  • Travels by vehicle or airplane.

Education

  • Makes simple adjustments or repairs such as removing broken shear pins and replaces with new pins, adjusting handles, wheels or foot pedals.
  • Assembles crates to contain products.
  • Keeps area clean of debris or snow.
  • Replaces or relieves employees and able to perform all job functions within the designed area.
  • Operates Machinery such as Power Stop Target Press, Sediment Log Machine and Particle Line bagging stations.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual for a 2nd Shift Supervisor position. The candidate will need to have an Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 5 years of supervisory experience. Maintenance & forklift experience is desired. Job Type: Full-time | Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees on the manufacturing lines and warehouse. Carries out supervisory responsibilities including training employees, planning, directing work, appraising performance, disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Enforces company Safety regulations.
  • Monitor and assist with the machine operation process and manufacturing of goods. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of equipment.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency production lines and workforce.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues and assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Application of 5s and Lean concepts.
  • Daily documentation via email, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
